Orc Empire
Summary
This campaign is taking place when the Orcs were at the height of their power. I picture the Orc Empire as a cross between Star Trek Klingons, Feudal Japan and Nazi Germany. These Orcs believe they live by a code of strength, honor and warrior bravery but they are also lean towards the darker side of the road, carrying on torture and murder and the like - especially during this age "The Culling of the Herd".
The Empire is a Feudal Society ruled by a Chief Warlord called "Tavo Sa" (liken to "Shogun"). There are a number of other sub-chiefs and lesser warlords as well. There are distinct classes, in order of importance, as follows: Royal Caste, Warrior Caste, Priesthood, Wealthy, Workers, Women and Slaves. The last three classes are given very little respect. Law in the realm is simple - do what the superior caste says. The penalty for breaking the law is usually severe and usually death. Warriors and some Priests (called Judicators) meet out punishments and regulate the populace.
The "Empire Proper" (as it is called) is that section of land that dominates the center of the realm and is surrounded by the Botjan Que Mountains (Meaning: Shield Ring). The "Empire Lesser" (as it is called) are all the lands outside of that ring save for Salatia (which is it's own Republic). Orcs and their kin live in the Empire Proper and Empire Lesser but over the past few generations, Humans and half-breeds have taken over the North and heavily populated the West. This section details the "Empire Proper".
Current Situation
The Empire is being overrun with humans. When they arrived on our shores 1,204 years ago, we made them welcome and allowed them to settle with the understanding that they would be subject to Orc laws and Orc rule. They accepted and swore loyalty to the Empire. For generations, we tolerated their whining, their laziness and their bawking at the Orc way of life. We allowed them to spread and that was our mistake. They spread like a virus, choking off the Empire's resources. They are barbaric, ignorant and without honor. They refuse to uphold their vow to pay proper and timely tributes. They bawk at the order of things and are attempting to seize control of Orc ancestral lands. They must be decimated.
We are a people not without mercy. It is not the extinction of their species that we seek but instead, a return to a controllable population level. Our Judicators and Generals have prepared for what must be done. Now, with our superior skills, weapons and tactics, we will regain control of the Outer Empire and put the Humans back in their place. There will be terror and horror and atrocities - it is necessary - it is the only thing that they understand. When the war is over, Qwa Vaam will once again be a place worthy of our great God Larthaan. The humans will survive and be forced to adhere to their oath from so long ago. We will ensure that by placing them into a state of slavery. Perhaps one day, they will earn their freedom and again be given the chance to prove themselves worthy of freedom but for now - death for many, slavery for the rest.
Our armies marched into West Avalon and landed on the shores of North Avalon. We have solid occupation of the West - our troops are quartered in all parts of that land. Most humans, save for some renegades, have been rounded up and sent to work camps. We have a definitive foothold in the North as well. Our troops have razed their villages and are assualting their capitol, Cardonna. It is only a matter of time before they are in custody. Our grand Armada is based in Macbelly, with a small strategical detachment at Avatar Isle. We have heard that the Elves are offering some tacit support to the Northern humans but it is of little concern. We have control of the battlefield and will win this war.
Orc History
The realm's current year is 5,660 O.R. (Orc Reckoning). Banding together as one great empire is the event that begins the Orc calendar.
Pre-History: All natives are tribal and disordered.
0001 O.R.: Orc tribes unite under Larthan the Elder (First Tavo Sa). First Orc nation is born. Nation is called "Qwa Vaam" (Genesis).
0054 O.R.: Titans from the clouds invade Qwa Vaam.
0054-0065: War of the Sky Cities.
0065 O.R.: Titan War ends, Orcs win, Larthan dies and is hailed as a god.
1492 O.R.: Orcs invade Salatia and subjugate the Elves (who are wild/tribal).
1494 O.R.: Elves retaliate; Sylvan forces unite and start fighting the Orcs.
1494-1867: Sylvan Wars.
1867 O.R.: Sylvan Wars end - Orcs decide that Salatia is not worth the Occupation forces.
3073 O.R.: The Orc Empire stumbles across the Halflings and subjugates them.
3227 O.R.: The Orc Empire encounters Gnomes and subjugates them as well.
3230 O.R.: The Orc Empire learns of Dwarves, demands tribute and it is given. The Gnomes, Dwarves and Halflings live in relative peace under the flag of the Orc Empire.
4456 O.R.: Tribal Humans settlers arrive on the Northern shores of Qwa Vaam. They are refugees from a land destroyed by a great fire. The Orc Empire allows them to settle but demands tribute - it is given. Peace reigns for many years.
5120 O.R.: Human population very high. Orc Empire allows them to settle into deeper territories. Humans are now living in about half of the Empire.
5600 O.R.: Human expansion getting out of hand. Orcs and Humans begin having confrontations.
5660 O.R.: In an effort to curtail a "human plague", the Orc Empire declares war.
