Six longships full of humans landed on the north shores of Qwa Vaam in the year 4,456 O.R. They were little more than simple, undeveloped barbarians at the time. The humans claimed to have fled from a land that was destroyed by fire. As far as it is known, the six shiploads of humans were the only survivors. The lands that they had fled from were rural, disorganized, and uncivilized. Therefore, the humans never labeled their old country with a proper title. Since the original refugees had not yet developed reading & writing, they had no record of their past and so, their origins are lost in the annals of time. The human kingdoms began recording their history about four centuries after they arrived.
From the time of their arrival, the humans dug into the coastal regions now known as "Kessex", "Parthenia", and "Union Isle". Not seeing them as an initial threat, the Orc kingdom did nothing to stop them from settling. In fact, the Orcs saw them as yet another work force that would gladly pay tributes to live here. The Orc Empire demanded and received tribute from the humans for many generations.
The humans prospered and multiplied. In the year 5,120 O.R., the Orc Empire realized that the human population had grown too large for the coastal regions they lived in. The Empire decided to split them up and spread them out across the country. They did this for two reasons. First, the humans were multiplying fast and they did need more room. Second, (and more important to the Orcs), humans were great tillers of the land and giving them more fertile land to work would provide the empire with greater rewards. The humans relocated in the year 5,121 O.R. Smaller human settlements dotted the land, stretching from what is now the Parthenian north coast to the southern coasts of the Prague Gem Forest. The humans had settled nearly half of the island. Again, the Orc kingdom didn't care as long as they got their tribute and the humans kept in line which, they did.
Time passed and the human population in Qwa Vaam grew out of hand again. Disagreements and confrontations started to develop between the Orcs and the Humans. Humans wanted more rights and less work. They started talking about self-rule. Some provinces even stopped paying tribute. It was decided that the human population needed thinning. In the year 5, 660 O.R., the Orc Empire declared war on the humans.
