Ancient History of the Realm
Creation Story
This existence is one of many which began as a thought in the mind of  "The Creator" - a being not of this existence in whose mind all things are made.  In the beginning there was nothing but the Creator and The Void.  As The Creator's thoughts took form, so did The Void.  The Void filled with form and The Creator gave it soul and life so that the world was made.  The Creator sculpted the lands and the seas, gave names to all things, all places, all beings.  He decided the beginning and the end of this world before it ever existed.  He laid down the past, present and future in the great Book of Life.  Once the thought had taken form, the passage of time began

The Primeval Age

Life originated in spirit form and in its infancy was simple.  Spirits took the forms of trees, plants, animals, insects, mountains, rivers, and the elements.  All things were linked so, as the world developed so did life.  As more eons passed, powerful spirits matured and became the first Entities the "Nameless Gods" of all things.  The vast Power of the Nameless Gods manifested itself in the form of The Reptilian Kings and thus ushered in a new age.

The Age of the Reptilian Kings

The entire world became host to the Reptilian Kings.  Many varied creatures dominated the lands, the skies and the seas.  Some were magnificently powerful while others encompassed more subtle characteristics of the Nameless Gods.  All creatures lived in harmony, complimenting each other's existence.  Life thrived on itself and spawned new evolution over the passing of vast amounts of immeasurable time.  As the world changed, the Reptilian Kings were called into the land where they again became one with the Nameless Gods and slept.  As they slept, their dreams invoked new life.  Other forms appeared - both physical and spiritual.  Thus the Age of Myth arrived.

The Age of Myth

Shapeless souls and mythical creatures appeared during this age - direct manifestations of the dreams of the sleeping Reptilian Kings and the Nameless Gods they embodied.  The world was a living dream, teaming with bright souls.  The Age of Myth began in harmony and remained thus for millennia but it would come to be known as the age in which the rhythm of life changed forever.  Prior to the Age of Myth all things were as one, coexisting in harmony and benevolence guided by the Nameless Gods.  During the Age of Myth, the shapeless souls born of dreams became self-aware and thus, became demi-gods.  The Demi-Gods thirsted for knowledge.  They explored every aspect of all things over many lifetimes and in many forms.  They experienced birth, death, emotion, creation, destruction, discovery, loss, war and peace.  They attained a level of enlightenment that equaled the Nameless Gods. The influence of the ancient Nameless Gods waned while some enlightened beings grew in power.  At long last, many enlightened demi-gods ascended to different spiritual realms where they each held sway over different aspects of the world, the creatures therein and existence itself.  Their ascension gave birth to good and evil, law and chaos, & conflict and resolution and so the Gods often quarrel.  In their endless, intricate struggles with each other, the Gods manipulate all things to their own designs and constantly introduce new life that reflects their creativity and genius.  Chief among their creations is "Man" whom the Gods favor.  The world is their center of contest.  The Gods use Men in their eternal struggles to effect changes in the world (some for better, some for worse - depends on the God).  Man has been given free will and self-awareness.  This insures that Man begins life without alliance to any one God and is thus approachable by all - fair game.  In playing the Eternal Game, the Gods have bequeathed the world's next age to Man.

The Dawn of Man

Man was brought into the world as a simple creature.  Full of primal urges, it was easy for the Gods to manipulate Men.  As time progressed Men gravitated together, living in tribes.  Soon, Gods held sway over entire tribes.  Many of the Gods blessed "their people" with characteristics that reflected their appearance or realm of influence.  Men began to take on different names to identify their tribes to their Gods.  They became Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Gnolls and so on.  Their patron Gods showered their people with knowledge, skill, long lives, and many more and varied divine gifts.  Men became less primal.  Early Civilization was born and the tribes of the world began to record their own histories.

This is the story of the common heritage of the world.  Hence forth, cultures recorded their own varied histories.  In due course, The Creator has seen the beginning of things (as described here), the passage of time and eventually - an end to this world.  Those stories are known, but those truths remain unspoken.  Instead, we leave the record of history to the cultures that would make this world their home.  We leave the speculation of the future to the Gods and the beings of this world.
