Club History

The club began in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1985, under the title of "Fantasy Adventures Unlimited". That group was founded by a gentleman named Brad Fuller, a distributor of TSR products (the company that sold Dungeons & Dragons products). Brad used the "role-playing club" scene as a vehicle to sell his products.
Zack Infanger joined in 1985 at the age of 13. The FAU was only three months old. Over the next year, Brad sold products, while Zack organized D&D gaming groups. After that, Brad was recruited by Atari games as a programmer and moved away. Although the distributorship had ended, Zack continued building groups until late 1986, when the Infanger family moved to San Diego, California.
In San Diego, Zack started a new group which quickly became known as Quest Club. This new group consisted of about 15 junior high and high school kids in a garage with high hopes. QCSD was short-lived (about a year) as, once again, the family relocated, this time to Burbank, California (September 1988).
In Burbank, Quest Club really blossomed. Friends networked and the club's membership snowballed quickly. Over the next 12 years (1988 to 2000), Quest Club was petitioned by hundreds of applicants and welcomed dozens of members. At our high in 1996, our membership consisted of 46 active members, 37 affiliate members and 6 company sponsors.
Although games (role-playing in particular) remained the primary activity of the club, other activities also became popular. Quest Club hosted board games, table top miniature games, card games and live role-playing games. Our events included campouts, movie nights, club dinners, conventions, parties, trips to renaissance fairs and many other fun experiences.
Throughout that time we remained an independent, self-supporting organization. We subsidized costs with member donations, event-specific fund raisers, sponsorship from merchants, parents and other benefactors. Pretty much if our membership wants to make it happen, we make it happen.
That's it in a nutshell. If you want to know more, or if you want to apply for membership, feel free to contact us at your convenience.
